Corn
Plant two inches deep in plenty of sun after the soil has warmed. It needs rich, moist and well nourished soil. Since corn has shallow roots, pull soil or compost around the stalk as it grows to add nutrients, protect from winds and help hold moisture. A deep mulch is beneficial. Plant on the north side of the garden so it does not shade other crops. Use short rows (at least four together) for best pollination.
